Researchers at Sechenov University have created a prototype VR training tool designed to develop cognitive skills in children with autism spectrum disorders. The device focuses on improving important cognitive functions such as memory and attention. That sets it apart from most existing alternatives, which train only basic social skills.
To use the training tool, a child puts on a VR headset and enters an interactive environment with a range of tasks. These can include sorting fruits and vegetables into baskets, remembering sequences of objects that appear on screen, or finding objects by color.
