From Siberia to the capital, neural networks are speeding up medical imaging analysis and boosting accuracy across Russia’s healthcare system.

Artificial intelligence is no longer confined to Moscow’s top clinics—it is now helping doctors in Russia’s regions deliver faster, more accurate diagnoses. In Tyumen, for example, city polyclinics have been connected to the capital’s digital healthcare platform, and the results have been immediate.

The neural network can analyze virtually every type of medical image, from X-rays and fluorography to mammography and CT scans of the chest and brain. Complex tomographic images that typically take doctors several minutes to assess are processed by the system in as little as 90 seconds.

Unlike human specialists, who statistically can maintain peak concentration for only about five scans per session, the AI operates without fatigue and often spots details that might otherwise be missed. Still, physicians retain ultimate responsibility for the final diagnosis—the technology serves as a tool, not a replacement.
