Russian Schools Roll Out AI Teaching Assistants

Starting this fall, schools outside Moscow will pilot an AI service designed to reduce teacher workloads and personalize learning for students.
Russia’s education system is taking another step into digital transformation. Beginning in September 2025, schools in Losino-Petrovsky, a district in the Moscow region, will introduce “Teaching Assistant,” an artificial intelligence service created to support educators rather than replace them. The announcement was made during the region’s annual August teachers’ conference, according to Regions.ru.
The platform uses AI algorithms to automate routine administrative tasks, analyze large volumes of student performance data, and adapt educational materials. The goal is to give teachers the tools to create more personalized learning paths for each student.
Developers and local officials stress that the technology is not meant to replace teachers. Instead, it is designed to complement their expertise—handling data and repetitive processes so educators can spend more time engaging directly with students. As one official put it, AI cannot replicate human empathy and creativity, but it can take over the paperwork.
