App Developed in Tatarstan to Improve School Security
A digital “panic button” alerts emergency services in case of incidents
An application designed to strengthen security in schools has been presented in Kazan, the regional Ministry of Digital Development said. The regional company NTOO Peresvet, a resident of the IT Park, developed the digital panic button together with specialists from the National Guard (Rosgvardiya) and GLONASS. The tool allows staff to quickly notify emergency services about incidents.
All in One Button
The application was designed for employees of educational and social institutions. It can operate even with limited internet connectivity. A security guard only needs to press the button in the app, and all staff members will hear an alarm signal, even if their phones are set to silent mode. Information about the incident is immediately sent to Rosgvardiya or the Sistema-112 emergency system. The alert includes the location of the incident, the room, the floor and the type of emergency.
Because all employees of the organization receive the notification, they can choose the appropriate response. Staff can also send additional comments about the situation to emergency services. The application can also be used for drills to practice emergency response procedures. The system has already begun to be used in Russian schools.
