Researchers at Ural Federal University have developed a digital twin to simulate the behavior of magnetic nanoparticles, TASS reported, citing the university.

The technology is expected to support the creation of new functional materials with specified characteristics. The digital twin has already demonstrated its effectiveness in experiments. Scientists set particle parameters and analyzed their magnetic properties. Under real-world conditions, such testing would have taken years.

Applications in Nanomedicine

University researchers say the modeling approach helps reveal the underlying nature of nanoparticle properties and explain their behavior. Raw materials for the experiments are produced through the electrical explosion of wire and laser evaporation of a target. The two methods yield up to 400 grams and 100 grams of nanoparticles, respectively.

Today, magnetic nanoparticles are used to develop MRI contrast agents and targeted drug delivery systems in oncology. Researchers are also exploring their potential use in implantation gels and materials designed for electromagnetic shielding.
