The automated violation-detection system Dozor (Patrol) is identifying dangerous ice overhangs and icicles on residential rooftops in Kostroma. The smart cameras have already flagged more than 120 violations, with alerts sent to the city’s administrative commission.

Powered by artificial intelligence, the Dozor hardware-and-software complex can detect up to 30 types of violations. Data from the cameras is transmitted automatically to city authorities, while integration with the Gosuslugi (Public Services) platform helps speed up the issuance of fine notices.

Not Just Dozor

Dozor is not the only tool being used to keep Russian streets safe in winter. In Saint Petersburg, neural networks have been tasked with overseeing rooftop snow removal.

The Gorodovoy (City Watch) systems inspect buildings where snow and icicles have previously fallen. The algorithm can distinguish snow and ice buildup from architectural elements of building facades.
