Russian doctors are increasingly using artificial intelligence technologies in medical research. AI significantly speeds up workflows and minimizes the risk of errors, Russia’s health minister Mikhail Murashko told Komsomolskaya Pravda.

The potential uses of artificial intelligence in medicine continue to grow, especially in functional diagnostics. AI systems are already helping physicians analyze mammograms, X-ray and fluorography images, as well as the results of chest CT scans.

Diagnoses and Interpretation

“Clinical decision support systems accelerate the diagnostic process and help minimize medical errors when interpreting test results,” Murashko said.

Earlier reports said Russian doctors are testing an AI-based assistant system called Doktor Pirogov (Doctor Pirogov). The system analyzes patient data, suggests possible diagnoses to physicians, and provides reasoning for each option. This practical experiment could set a new standard for oncology services nationwide.
