The Russian company Russkaya Morskaya Komanda (Russian Marine Team) has begun preparations for serial production of remotely operated underwater vehicles under the Okean brand.

According to Anton Merkulov, deputy head of the marine robotic systems development department, the launch of serial production is scheduled for the summer of 2027.

“The vehicle itself, together with the deep-sea deployment system — that is, the full complex — will be ready in June 2027. After that date, we can consider serial production officially underway. The entire production chain — metalworking, radio-electronic assembly, testing, and the hydraulic section — is fully localized at our facilities,” Merkulov said.

Designed for Any Latitude

Production of equipment for underwater technical work and search operations will be based at Russkaya Morskaya Komanda’s site in the city of Lomonosov, with participation from the company Fertoing. The systems under development are intended for use in large-scale infrastructure projects.

The complex is designed to operate in any latitude and can function in water temperatures ranging from −2°C to +32°C, covering all major areas of the world’s oceans. At the current stage, about 80 percent of the system’s components are produced in Russia. The share of domestically made parts is expected to rise to 90–95 percent over time.

The Okean technology lineup — including remotely operated underwater vehicles of various classes, an uncrewed surface vessel, and the Okean.GIS digital ecosystem — was presented at the Lyudi Morya (People of the Sea) forum session in Saint Petersburg.
