Kazan School Students With Cognitive Disabilities Publish AI-Assisted Book

A new short-story collection titled Pridumannye istorii (Imagined Stories) has been published in Kazan by students with cognitive disabilities from Boarding School No. 1. The children created the book with the help of artificial intelligence as part of a literary and creative rehabilitation program.

The collection includes 10 works: four fairy tales for younger readers, three stories for middle-school students, and three for high-school audiences. The authors are students in grades 5 through 9 who study in the “Chernoe i beloe” (“Black and White”) creative studio led by teacher Maksim Malkov.

According to Deputy Principal Larisa Medvedeva, the project helps students develop communication skills, build self-confidence, and improve socialization through creative work. The books, printed in a run of 100 copies, will be distributed to friends and partner organizations to help share the students’ work. The school is also planning additional projects, including video productions, music compositions, AI-enhanced animated photographs, and potentially another book.

The boarding school is located in Kazan’s Aviastroitelny district and serves 259 students between the ages of seven and 17.
