Relatives of Elderly Russians Can Now Handle Housing and Utility Issues Remotely

Russia’s new mobile app ‘Gosuslugi Dom’ is gaining traction across the regions, letting families solve household and utility problems in a single window format—even at a distance.

In Russia’s Sverdlovsk region alone, more than half a million people have already downloaded the Gosuslugi Dom application. The service simplifies housing and utility management through a one-stop digital platform.

Among its most popular features is ‘guest access.’ With it, relatives of elderly residents can remotely take charge of everyday tasks, including direct communication with emergency and dispatch services. All it requires is that both users install the app, log in, and the property owner enter the guest’s phone number linked to their account.

Gosuslugi Dom also allows residents to submit meter readings—including via smartphone camera—pay bills online, and send service requests to property managers. The app provides information on resource consumption, electronic voting in homeowners’ meetings, and detailed reports from management companies, while also tracking building maintenance and renovations.

With just a couple of taps, users can order meter inspections. The app even includes messenger functionality, enabling neighbors to communicate in private group chats about shared property and community matters.
