Otello Booking Service Adds AI Assistant to Plan Trips and Answer Traveler Questions

The Otello (hotel booking service) from 2GIS has introduced an AI assistant for travelers. The system supports users throughout the trip-planning process – from choosing a hotel to building a day-by-day itinerary.

To find a suitable hotel, users can describe their needs in plain language – for example, “I’m going to Sochi for the weekend with friends and want a good hotel with a pool.” The AI generates a list of relevant options based on hotel data, partner listings, reference information, and 2GIS reviews. Users can view selected options on a map, save them, or book immediately.

“About 20% of Otello’s support requests are questions about specific hotels during the selection process or after booking – whether there is a hairdryer, parking, luggage storage, or what time breakfast is served. So our first step was to train the AI to respond quickly and clearly to these kinds of questions in a familiar chat format,” said Darya Rezanova, product manager at Otello.

After booking, the assistant can provide a weather forecast and packing tips. Using 2GIS data on restaurants, museums, and attractions, it can also build a full-day itinerary. The company plans to expand the AI’s capabilities to help users choose not only hotels, but also travel destinations.
