Russia Aims to Lead the Global Race in Industrial Robotics

A new national initiative seeks to make Russian-made robots a common sight across factories — part of a broader plan to automate industry and boost competitiveness by 2030.

Russia is setting its sights on becoming a global leader in industrial automation. In an interview with National Television, Minister of Industry and Trade Anton Alikhanov announced large-scale plans to transform manufacturing through the widespread use of domestically produced robots. The national robotics project, gaining momentum this year, aims to integrate robots into production lines across the country.

The program focuses not only on developing new models of industrial robots but also on stimulating market demand. Manufacturers will be offered direct discounts on the purchase of Russian-made robots, making automation more accessible for factories and plants nationwide.

According to Alikhanov, 'the target will be met on schedule — by 2030.'

The mass adoption of robots in industry is seen as a cornerstone for improving productivity and strengthening global competitiveness. If successfully implemented, the national project could mark a major technological leap for Russia’s manufacturing sector.
