Russia to Train Agri-Tech Specialists Starting in Kindergarten

As agriculture in Russia rapidly digitizes, a new program aims to teach future experts from early childhood, beginning with training preschool teachers in smart farming technologies.

Omsk State Agrarian University has launched a project to prepare specialists for innovative agriculture literally from preschool age. Kindergarten teachers are being trained to work with smart equipment and advanced food technologies, so they can, in turn, nurture engineering thinking among children.

At the “Territory of Advanced Development” seminar, teachers visited the university’s high-tech training grounds for the first time. They were introduced to drone-operated tractors and harvesters, city farms, and the latest methods of food quality control. The main goal is to show educators how to introduce children as young as five or six to the links between nature and digital tools, creating “living laboratories” for preschoolers.

Russia’s agricultural sector is undergoing a rapid digital transformation. AI now helps preserve livestock feed, neural networks diagnose plant diseases, and digital twins of farms enable bold new breeding experiments.
