AI Boosts Russia’s Online Retail Turnover
Digital tools powered by artificial intelligence are driving personalized shopping in Russia, helping retailers better understand consumer behavior and pushing e-commerce to record growth.

In the first seven months of 2025, Moscow’s online retail turnover jumped nearly 17 percent year-on-year, reaching 1.1 trillion rubles (approx. $13.2 billion), according to mos.ru.
Deputy Mayor of Moscow and head of the city’s Department of Economic Policy and Development, Maria Bagreeva, said that the surge in e-commerce was fueled by rapid adoption of fintech solutions. Artificial intelligence, in particular, is being used to more accurately analyze consumer preferences, generate personalized product recommendations based on purchase history and reviews, and even predict when customer interest in a product or service might decline.
