Russia and Belarus Expand Peaceful Nuclear Tech Partnership

The two countries are working together on advanced applications of nuclear technologies far beyond energy—from medicine to electric vehicles.

Russia and Belarus are deepening their collaboration on peaceful nuclear technologies, with a focus on non-energy applications. According to representatives from Rosatom and the Belarusian government, the partnership is accelerating high-tech initiatives in electric transport, digitalization, nuclear medicine, industrial robotics, machine tool engineering, and additive manufacturing.

In the Union State, joint digital projects by Rosatom and Belarusian partners are also being used for environmental protection, including waste mitigation programs. The two countries are co-developing smart simulators for training nuclear plant personnel and have launched joint efforts to produce traction batteries for electric vehicles—among many other examples.

Officials believe that the experience Russia and Belarus have gained in advancing cutting-edge nuclear tech can be scaled to other members of the Eurasian Economic Union, which is positioning itself to lead in peaceful nuclear innovation outside of traditional power generation.
