Russia Is to Create an Automated Customs Information System
Customs administration is set to become faster and more technology-driven.

Russia will develop a unified, next-generation automated information system for its customs authorities, according to Valery Pikalyov, head of the Federal Customs Service, speaking at a meeting with Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin.
Pikalyov said the agency already makes extensive use of digital services. Sixteen electronic declaration and automated cargo-release centers are operating nationwide. In 2026, a new dispatching model will be introduced, under which senders will not know which specific region is processing their declaration. The change is intended to make cross-border procedures even more secure.
Innovative Approaches
According to Pikalyov, a full reengineering of customs processes is now underway. The result will be a new digital ecosystem that goes beyond the current Unified Automated Information System.
As a result, customs administration in Russia is expected to become a fast, high-tech process built on innovative approaches.
