Russia Launches Its Largest Data Center Built Entirely on Domestic Equipment

Telecom operator MegaFon has commissioned a new data center in St. Petersburg—fully powered by Russian-made engineering systems and components.

The Russian telecom company MegaFon has officially launched a new data processing center in St. Petersburg. It is the largest IT facility in the company’s portfolio, featuring end-to-end deployment of locally produced equipment across all engineering systems. The data center is built using modular architecture, allowing flexible scaling of capacity as demand grows.

Domestic Components to Ensure Reliability

The facility can accommodate over 800 server racks and consumes up to 14 megawatts of power. To maintain optimal conditions in the server halls, it uses Russian-designed cooling systems that automatically switch between air and freon-based modes for maximum efficiency. The data center is also equipped with domestically manufactured transformers, fire safety systems, and monitoring solutions.

This marks a significant milestone in strengthening Russia’s sovereign digital infrastructure. The new facility ensures reliable communication, secure data storage, and fast processing for millions of users nationwide.
