Russian Developer Creates Software for Domestic Robots
Gruppa Astra and TECHNORED Create First Robot Powered by Secure Russian Software

Russia has unveiled a prototype robot control system built on domestic software, Astra Linux. The announcement was made by Gruppa Astra’s press service. The development was carried out jointly with robot manufacturer TECHNORED at the Technopolis Moscow special economic zone. The partnership aims to create a lineup of domestically produced robots equipped with secure Russian software.
At the first stage, the partners tested a prototype of TECHNORED’s REDS visual robot programming system running on Astra Linux Desktop. The machine can move objects according to preset parameters, send commands, and exchange data with industrial manipulators. Astra Linux has been adapted for visual programming systems compatible with the full range of RED collaborative robots. The next phase will focus on configuring low-level control systems and real-time components, the company said.
From Software to Microelectronics
Artur Kharkov, head of research and development at TECHNORED, said the project marks an important step toward advancing domestic robotics software.
Russia plans to significantly expand its robotics market by 2030. Joint projects between software developers and robot manufacturers are expected to help reach that goal more quickly.
