Russian Manufacturer to Receive $3.6 Million for Servo Drive Production
These high-tech devices are set to replace foreign equivalents in key industrial sectors.
Yekaterinburg-based company NewLink will receive a government grant of 300 million rubles (about $3.6 million) to launch large-scale production of Russian-made servo drives. The high-tech devices are expected to replace foreign counterparts in key industries, including unmanned aviation.
Servo drives are precision electromechanical systems often described as the “muscles” of modern automation. They are used in aircraft manufacturing, industrial robotics, computer numerical control (CNC) machine tools, as well as lifting and packaging equipment. Planned output is expected to reach tens of thousands of units per year, supporting technological independence.
A Full Production Cycle
The uniqueness of the development lies in the creation of a full production cycle within the country. This is a key step for advancing areas such as unmanned aviation systems, which are planned for use in agricultural and forestry monitoring, as well as for rapid detection and suppression of wildfires.
The launch of domestic servo drive production matters not only for import substitution. It strengthens Russia’s industrial sovereignty and contributes to the global digital transformation by offering high-tech components for future automated systems. The project is also expected to support related industries and create new high-skilled jobs.
