Russian regions are preparing for the spring flood season. This year, many areas will rely on automated systems to monitor conditions on rivers and lakes. In the Moscow region, smart sensors were installed on waterways last fall. After heavy snowfall, authorities expect large-scale flooding.

In Mytishchi, sensors have been placed on the Yauza, Borisovka, Klyazma, Meryanka, Razderikha, and Ucha rivers. The system will monitor river conditions around the clock. Response time to changes will not exceed one minute, and all incidents will be documented with photographs.

Nature’s Eyes

In total, 166 water-monitoring sensors are planned for installation across the Moscow region.

Smart video surveillance systems are used nationwide to assess environmental conditions. Cameras help track endangered animal populations, monitor migration routes, count trees and shrubs, and provide early warnings of forest fires and other emergencies.
