Russian Mobile Carrier Launches AI Assistant to Combat Phone Spam

A major Russian telecom provider has rolled out a voice assistant that automatically blocks suspicious calls — a free service now available to millions of users nationwide.
Russian telecom operator T2 has launched a large-scale rollout of its AI-powered voice assistant, designed to protect users from spam and phone scams. The service is available across all T2 coverage areas and comes free of charge for both new and existing subscribers. No additional activation is required, according to the company’s press office.
The assistant picks up incoming calls on behalf of the user — especially when they’re busy or prefer not to speak with unknown numbers. It analyzes calls in real time, blocks spam and fraud attempts, and then sends the user a transcript and audio recording via T2’s app or through SMS.
Users can configure the assistant through the app’s “My Protection” section, where they can choose between two default voices: the female “Mia” or the male “Mark,” as well as customize other parameters.
T2 is positioning the launch as a major step forward in customer protection. The AI works fully autonomously, blocking unwanted calls while ensuring important ones still get through. No other solution of this scale has been offered in the Russian market to date. The company says the new system promotes digital hygiene and helps mitigate the growing threat of phone fraud.
