Russian Researchers Develop Real-Time Cybersecurity Platform to Stop Data Leaks

A new system called Vzor, developed by a university team in Russia, monitors user activity in real time to prevent sensitive data breaches in government and corporate environments.

Scientists at Novgorod State University have unveiled an advanced software suite called Vzor, designed to detect and prevent unauthorized leaks of confidential information. The tool, now patented, is suitable for both classified government operations and enterprise-level data security monitoring.

According to Russia’s Ministry of Science and Higher Education, Vzor tracks user activity by recording keystrokes, monitoring active processes, and streaming real-time footage of the desktop. When keywords or commands associated with legal violations are entered, the system immediately alerts security personnel. The video stream has a delay of less than four seconds, enabling rapid response to potential threats.

Project lead and university lecturer Dmitry Smorodin noted that Vzor offers a deeper level of control than similar tools, combining features like keystroke logging, video surveillance, and system process monitoring. It is compatible with all major operating systems.

Future upgrades include integration with Chromium-based browsers and implementation of the ruBERT neural network model to analyze web content. This will allow the system to automatically block access to websites distributing prohibited material.
