Russian Scientists to Boost Research with Artificial Intelligence

Yandex’s School of Data Analysis launches a new program to help researchers apply AI in fields from chemistry to medicine.

The School of Data Analysis at the Russian tech platform Yandex is introducing a course on applying artificial intelligence to the natural sciences—from chemistry and physics to geology and medicine.

Starting this fall, the program “Artificial Intelligence in Natural Science Research” will give scientists, graduate students, and postgraduates the skills to use cutting-edge AI tools in their work. According to the developers, AI offers researchers entirely new capabilities, from uncovering hidden patterns in massive datasets to modeling complex processes such as molecular interactions or ecosystem dynamics.

The course emphasizes a hands-on approach. Each participant will develop their own scientific project under the guidance of two mentors—one from the School of Data Analysis and another who is a specialist in the participant’s field. This format is designed to integrate AI tools directly into ongoing research, accelerating the creation of new drugs, materials, and technologies.
