A 3D geospatial model has already been created for the village of Saskylakh, data has been collected for web visualization, and work has begun on a geodatabase. A unified digital platform will bring together climate data and information on transportation and energy infrastructure, demographics, and the settlements’ social and cultural characteristics. The platform will use geographic information systems, BIM and 3D modeling, big-data analytics and machine learning.

The digital twin will have a modular architecture, with separate modules covering climate, social dynamics, infrastructure, energy and transportation. The analysis will allow planners to account for the specific conditions of Arctic territories when making decisions about their development.

The work is being carried out under the Razvitiye infrastruktury v naselennykh punktakh (Infrastructure Development in Settlements) regional project, part of the Infrastruktura dlya zhizni (Infrastructure for Life) national project. By the end of 2025, quality of life in Yakutia’s designated hub settlements had improved by 31.8% compared with 2019.
