Yakutia to Train Russian Librarians in Using AI
New technologies are reshaping the country’s library system.

Artificial intelligence solutions first introduced by the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) are set to be scaled nationwide, regional officials said.
According to regional head Aysen Nikolaev, the National Library of Yakutia has confidently embraced modern technologies and is setting a high pace of development.
The platform is designed as a unified tool to support the digital transformation of the library system, covering both major federal institutions and municipal branches.
Smart Reading Tools
Readers, in turn, will gain access to personalized semantic search, chatbots capable of answering questions, and smart e-readers with annotation and note-taking features.
Officials say library staff view AI technologies primarily as a tool for preserving and unlocking cultural heritage. The platform is expected to speed up core library processes by five to ten times. After testing in 2026, the system is to be rolled out at the federal level.
