AI Is Reshaping Teaching in Russia
Experts say the rise of artificial intelligence is changing the role of the teacher.

Technology and artificial intelligence are changing Russia’s educational landscape. According to experts, this shift is also redefining the role of the teacher. As Irina Volynets, chair of the National Parents Committee, puts it, educators are no longer the sole source of knowledge. Instead, they are becoming navigators, moderators, and mentors in a world of information overload and digital tools.
Designing Pedagogy
According to the expert, there is a growing need to master what is known as instructional design – creating learning pathways that combine offline and online activities, digital tools, and face-to-face interaction.
It is also important to develop digital ethics in the classroom – agreeing with students on how, when, and for what purposes AI can be used, and when independent work must be demonstrated.
A Level Playing Field
Modern digital services also matter when it comes to building equal infrastructure across regions, including remote areas. Ultimately, Volynets said, the success of this transformation depends on the teacher, who, by embracing a new role, remains the key guide and meaning-maker in educating thoughtful, critical, and creative individuals.
