Jenan Alshehab: AI Needs Ethical Standards as Well as Laws
The 2nd Global Digital Forum is taking place in Moscow, bringing together participants to discuss technological development and international cooperation.

At the forum, digital industry representatives from different countries are exploring technology solutions, discussing how they can be used and looking for partners. In an interview with IT Russia, Kuwaiti blogger Jenan Alshehab spoke on the sidelines of the forum about why AI needs to be regulated and why cybersecurity matters:
– This is my second time attending the Global Digital Forum. Last year, I took part as a speaker in my capacity as an engineer, discussing topics related to cybernetics. This time, I’m here as a blogger. I have my own blog, and I want to tell my followers about the forum and what’s happening here.
I believe the use of artificial intelligence needs to be regulated. That requires not only laws and rules, but also ethical standards. Everyone should understand their responsibility and avoid using technology for illegal purposes, such as impersonating someone online. Regulation should be a responsibility not only of the government, but also of schools and universities. It’s important that children and students don’t rely on AI for everything, even though it really does make life easier.
I’m also interested in cybersecurity. There are many hackers around the world who gain access to information they shouldn’t have. That’s why data protection should be a priority for both government institutions and private companies. Cybersecurity is essential wherever digital technologies are used.
