Joaquín Fargas: Humans and Machines May Merge in the Future, Eventually Becoming One

Hundreds of international guests gathered in Moscow for the 2nd Global Digital Forum to discuss technological cooperation and find partners for joint projects.

Forum participants are discussing digital sovereignty, IT development, and international technology partnerships. Joaquín Fargas, an artist and representative of the Art Science Technology center in Argentina, spoke to the IT Russia media platform about how artificial intelligence is changing our understanding of creativity and human interaction with technology.

– Our work brings together technology and art. Some of my projects explore how artificial intelligence can be used in media and art, as well as how it can express itself through creative work.

AI has been used as a tool for years, but one question remains: can it truly replace the creator? I research this area and view artificial intelligence more as a concept. I want to understand what it actually is: a thing, an object, or perhaps a person? We may be on the brink of a revolution in technology and data, and reflecting on these questions is part of my work.

In my view, artificial intelligence will not completely replace humans. Instead, humans and machines may merge, eventually becoming one. Of course, it is difficult to predict the future, but I see this kind of interaction as one possible scenario. For example, in Komarovo, near St. Petersburg, there is a project in which a robot is being taught to meditate, and people are invited to meditate alongside it.

Perhaps, in the future, we will all become more closely connected to one another and to technology.
