Mohammad Kawsar Uddin: Technology Should Be a Bridge Between People, Not a Source of Division

Russia will offer foreign partners new formats for technology cooperation at the 2nd Global Digital Forum. The event will take place in Moscow from Oct. 8 to 10 at the Mechta venue in Gorky Park, where participants will discuss digital transformation trends, technology solutions and opportunities for international cooperation.

Mohammad Kawsar Uddin, President of the Technology Media Guild Bangladesh (TMGB), is following the forum’s agenda. He told IT Russia what opportunities for cooperation he sees between Bangladesh and Russia.

– For me, the Global Digital Forum is an opportunity to connect beyond borders, not only with technology leaders and digital innovators, but also with people and organizations shaping the future of the digital world.

As a technology journalist from Bangladesh and President of the Technology Media Guild Bangladesh (TMGB), I have spent more than two decades following the evolution of technology, digital transformation and the Internet. My experience has convinced me that technology is not simply about devices, platforms or infrastructure. It is increasingly about people, access, knowledge, trust and the ability of societies to benefit from digital progress.

I am particularly interested in understanding how different countries are approaching the opportunities and challenges created by artificial intelligence, digital infrastructure, cybersecurity, digital inclusion and the transformation of media. For journalists, these changes are especially important. AI is reshaping how information is produced and consumed, while digital platforms are transforming the relationship between media organizations and their audiences. At the same time, questions around accuracy, trust, transparency and responsible technology use have become increasingly important.

I also see the Forum as an opportunity to strengthen connections between Bangladesh and Russia in the technology and digital-media sectors. There is considerable potential for media organizations and professional associations to exchange news, features, interviews, expertise and perspectives. Such cooperation can help audiences in both countries better understand each other’s technology ecosystems, innovations and digital-development experiences.

Although I will unfortunately not be able to attend the Global Digital Forum physically, I am trying to participate online and remain fully engaged with the discussions. I hope to use this opportunity to connect with fellow journalists, technology professionals, policymakers and industry leaders, and to identify areas where our communities can work together.

I also look forward to continuing discussions with IT Russia about possible cooperation with the Technology Media Guild Bangladesh. A structured partnership could create opportunities for content exchange, professional networking, journalist exchange programmes and greater visibility for technology stories and voices from both countries.

Ultimately, my expectation from the Global Digital Forum is simple: to listen, learn and build meaningful connections. In a rapidly changing digital world, international cooperation and the exchange of knowledge are essential to ensuring that technology becomes a bridge between people and societies rather than another source of division.
