Russian Schools Embrace AI in Everyday Classrooms

Teachers across Russia are discovering the power of artificial intelligence to enhance education—from coding support to creative writing prompts.

Artificial intelligence is rapidly gaining ground in Russian education, starting as early as elementary school. Students use AI tools for extra learning and self-assessment, while teachers are leveraging them to update and enrich their lessons.

In Ulyanovsk, educators have embraced AI to create interactive lessons and have already seen strong results. Teachers use neural networks to design instructional content, visualize complex ideas, and even help students develop communication skills.

Alexander Povrozyuk, a lecturer at Ulyanovsk Polytechnic College, said AI saves students time by generating code and original images without copyright concerns. Elementary school teacher Elizaveta Novik uses AI to create characters and gamified tasks that boost student engagement.

Russian language teacher Yulia Fyodorova relies on AI to illustrate idioms and design multimedia projects, such as a historical timeline of Karamzin’s travels. In medical colleges, AI acts as a simulator for practicing patient interaction.

Teachers say AI is a valuable tool that should not be underestimated. They’re not afraid it will replace live discussion or critical thinking—so long as students are taught to use it wisely and safely.
