Russia’s “Digital Teacher” Builds Personalized Learning Plans for School Students

Students can now use AI to study physics and computer science.

The capabilities of the Digital Teacher service on the Moscow Electronic School (MES) platform have been expanded, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said.

"Physics and computer science have been added to mathematics and English. Since September, more than 90,000 students in grades seven through nine, along with parents and teachers, have used the AI service for the new subjects," Sobyanin explained.

The artificial intelligence system analyzes each student’s level of knowledge, identifies topics where they face difficulties, and suggests exercises to close learning gaps.

Personalized Approach and Adaptive Curriculum

All topics in the school physics curriculum are divided into 23 sections. The computer science module includes 19 areas, such as text data encoding, the octal number system, and the logical foundations of computing.

In total, the service offers around 2,700 assignments for independent study or homework. Teachers can view the results in an electronic gradebook, which helps them build individualized learning programs.
