Smart Transportation Systems Boost Travel Speeds in Tula by 50%
Regional authorities have focused on expanding video monitoring coverage and upgrading traffic signal infrastructure.

With intelligent transportation system technologies now in place, average traffic speeds across Tula have risen by about 50%, while travel times between destinations have fallen by roughly one-third. The figures were announced by Svetlana Voskresenskaya, Minister of Transport and Road Infrastructure of the Tula Region, during a forum in Aleksin.
As of the end of 2025, the region's traffic management data system included more than 700 video monitoring points. Authorities also modernized 145 traffic signal installations and deployed 372 traffic detectors. In addition, the region put into operation two dynamic information boards and eight smart pedestrian crossings.
Priority areas for deployment included Tula's main urban corridors, the Tula-Novomoskovsk highway, and major municipalities within the regional agglomeration, including Novomoskovsk, Shchyokino, Aleksin, and Venev.
Regional authorities plan to focus next on creating conditions that give public transportation priority at intersections and along key routes.
