Agbenu Okibe: Keeping Children Safe Online Is a Shared Responsibility for Our Countries
Protecting children online has become one area of international cooperation at the 2nd Global Digital Forum in Moscow.

Forum participants are working to develop joint initiatives to make the digital environment safer for users in different countries. On the sidelines of the forum, a Nigerian foundation working in digital safety and internet governance signed an agreement with its Russian partners. Agbenu Okibe, a representative of the foundation, spoke about the goals of the partnership.
– This agreement is very important to us. It will allow us to coordinate our efforts with Russian partners, including on internet safety and child protection. Today, almost everyone uses the internet, so keeping young users safe cannot be the responsibility of just a few individuals or organizations. It’s a shared responsibility.
We see the signing of this agreement as the beginning of joint work. Our first meetings have already taken place at the forum, and we’re now identifying areas for further cooperation between our countries. The Nigerian Internet Association will also take part in this work. Our shared goal is to find ways to work together and make the internet safer for children.
