Unified Telemedicine Network Launched for Russia’s Remote Regions
Doctors in rural hospitals can now conduct both routine and emergency consultations with specialists in regional centers.

Sber has launched a unified telemedicine network in Irkutsk connecting 16 remote district hospitals, the company’s press service said.
Physicians at районные медучреждения can now conduct both scheduled and emergency consultations remotely with colleagues in regional centers.
The hospitals have been equipped with hardware and software systems for telemedicine consultations developed by SberMedII (Sber Medical AI). The systems transmit ultrasound, X-ray, CT, and MRI results to the Tsentr Monitoringa Detskogo Zdorovya (Children’s Health Monitoring Center), which was established at the Irkutsk Regional Children’s Clinical Hospital.
Doctors can receive expert guidance during complex procedures while located hundreds of miles from the operating room. Specialists from the monitoring center join discussions of complicated cases in real time.
More Than 2,000 Remote Sessions a Year
The first consultation has already taken place with the Ust-Ilimsk District Hospital. A local physician performed an ultrasound exam while doctors in Irkutsk observed the process and discussed treatment strategy.
The network is expected to support at least 2,000 remote consultations annually, delivered by leading physicians from the Irkutsk Regional Children’s Clinical Hospital.
