Fillepus Kambonde: Namibia Plans to Expand Distance Learning with Russia

Today, participants are exploring technology solutions for sovereign digital infrastructure, building connections with IT companies and discussing the integration of digital products into national ecosystems.

Commenting on the first day of the forum, Fillepus Kambonde, a representative of the Namibia College of Open Learning (NAMCOL), spoke to an IT Russia correspondent about prospects for cooperation with the Russian Association for Electronic Communications (RAEC) in distance and vocational education:

– Today, we signed an agreement between NAMCOL and RAEC. I represent a Namibian public educational institution focused on distance and vocational education. This agreement is very important to us because it will provide a foundation for developing distance education and vocational training in Namibia and Russia.

First and foremost, we want to strengthen information and communications technology education. We plan to launch short- and long-term courses using technologies that our partner can provide. This will help students and other learners in Namibia develop the skills they need for professional growth.

We are currently developing vocational education in information and communications technology. Areas such as artificial intelligence and cybersecurity are particularly important to us. Our college is in the process of transitioning into an open university, and the agreement with RAEC will help us carry out these plans.

We have already set a timeline for implementing the agreement. In addition, the open university plans to establish another educational center on the coast, which will also offer information and communications technology courses. We need resources and support from partners to implement these initiatives, which is why the agreement we signed is so important.
