Neural Networks Are to Transform Education in Russia in 2026
Three new education standards will come into force from the start of the year.

From January 1, 2026, three new GOST standards governing the use of artificial intelligence technologies in education will come into effect. The first regulates the use of AI more broadly, including student performance assessment and the adaptation of learning materials.
The second standard focuses on monitoring student performance and adapting educational programs with the help of artificial intelligence. Educators will receive recommendations on optimizing curricula. The third regulation is aimed at governing the assessment of master’s students and their academic progress.
A New Era in Education
Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin described the development of artificial intelligence as the biggest technological breakthrough at a meeting of the State Council. According to the head of state, new professions and jobs will emerge for specialists, making it essential to ensure a clear professional transition for people and to highlight opportunities for learning and career growth.
