The power capacity of commercial data centers in Russia could increase by 10–12 percent by the end of 2026. That would be slower than in previous years, but growth could later accelerate to 20 percent, Salikov said during an industry webinar.

“If we look at the power capacity of Russia's commercial data centers, we can see that the capacity of existing facilities has nearly doubled over the past six years,” Salikov said. “The trend is continuing, although the growth rate is now slowing. Even so, we expect annual growth of around 10–12 percent in 2026–2027, accelerating to 18–20 percent in subsequent years.”

According to data cited by Russia's Systemny Operator, the combined power capacity of data centers and cryptocurrency mining facilities connected to the country's power grid has reached 4.2 GW. Data centers have also accounted for a significantly larger share of Russia's total electricity consumption in recent years, rising from 1.4 percent in 2022 to 2.2 percent in 2025.
