Alfa-Bank Completes First Transaction to Place Digital Assets Under Trust Management
Alfa-Bank, through its A-Token platform, and Alfa Capital Management Company have completed Russia’s first transaction involving the transfer of digital financial assets (DFAs) into trust management. The asset management company acquired assets representing monetary claims.
A-Token was launched in 2023. Alfa Capital became the first asset management company to act as a trustee on the platform. Alfa-Bank says the transaction demonstrated that the platform’s infrastructure is ready to scale.
Denis Dodon, Alfa-Bank’s Director of Innovation, said the bank plans to include digital rights in mutual funds and expand its product range with structured products and alternative investments.
The transaction became possible under Federal Law No. 282-FZ, “On Digital Currencies and Digital Rights,” which took effect on September 1. The law allows DFAs to be transferred between platforms, broadening their use and availability.
