Russia Proposes IAEA Working Group on Artificial Intelligence
The proposed mechanism is intended to help improve the efficiency of the international agency's operations.

Russia has proposed that the Secretariat of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) establish a technical working group to promote the broader use of artificial intelligence in the nuclear sector. The proposal was announced by Mikhail Ulyanov, Russia's permanent representative to international organizations in Vienna.
According to Ulyanov, a similar mechanism has already proven effective in Russia. He said the creation of a dedicated working group could help optimize the IAEA's operations. Russia also welcomed the IAEA Secretariat's response to a request from a group of member states to hold a thematic briefing on artificial intelligence.
Earlier, President Vladimir Putin highlighted what he described as the Russian nuclear industry's strong international position. Russia is involved in approximately 80% of projects related to the construction of nuclear power plants worldwide, he said. Putin also linked the industry's future development to the adoption of artificial intelligence technologies.
