Supreme Court Shares Experience of AI Integration in Courts
Russian courts have begun piloting four artificial intelligence models trained on judicial practice, Supreme Court Chief Justice Igor Krasnov told the BRICS Supreme Courts Forum.
According to Krasnov, the language models are being trained on the Supreme Court's legal positions as well as precedent-setting rulings on issues of greatest concern to citizens and businesses.
He added that the technologies are in clear demand, as evidenced by feedback from judges who readily use such tools and see significant potential in them.
Krasnov emphasized that scaling these solutions in such a sensitive area requires careful, step-by-step fine-tuning of all processes. To minimize risks, a framework for AI integration into judicial proceedings has been approved, outlining the core objectives, principles, and directions of this effort. The Supreme Court has also established a Center for Judicial Competencies in AI, which will be responsible for implementing the framework and selecting best practices.
