Russian Teachers Easily Spot AI-Generated Homework

Educators say AI tools are obvious when misused—and they aim to teach students how to use them wisely.

Over 40% of Russian teachers regularly encounter homework completed with the help of artificial intelligence, according to a Superjob survey cited by TASS. The data shows that 13% of teachers frequently identify AI-generated assignments. Teachers say it’s easy to tell when a student hasn’t done the work themselves—just ask a few follow-up questions or give them a similar problem at the board.

Math instructors note that neural networks often apply methods not covered in the school curriculum. Meanwhile, AI-written essays in literature and humanities tend to be generic or riddled with factual inaccuracies.

Despite this, educators generally avoid punishment. Instead, they focus on showing students how to use AI properly—as a tool for researching topics or outlining answers, not copying them outright.

Parents are also increasingly aware. Among families with kids in grades 7–9, 34% of parents know their children use AI, and that figure rises to nearly 50% for high schoolers. Experts argue that bans won’t solve the issue. They suggest integrating AI into the classroom and teaching students critical thinking and tech fluency.
