Voice Assistants Helped Ded Moroz Bring Holiday Cheer to Children Across Russia
Over a ten-day period, AI-powered assistants handled hundreds of thousands of calls from children nationwide.

The Ded Moroz (Russia’s Santa Claus) hotline run by Rostelecom Contact Center operated around the clock during the ten days leading up to the holidays. During that time, voice assistants answered 242,000 calls — a 60 percent increase compared with the previous year.
Beyond creating a festive atmosphere, the voice assistants also helped Rostelecom Contact Center refine its speech recognition technology and improve analytical algorithms. As a result, the systems learned to better understand even the youngest callers and respond to their questions. This is expected to improve call handling quality ahead of the next holiday hotline.

Alexander Svyatets, CEO of Rostelecom Contact Center, said the Ded Moroz hotline has become a warm holiday tradition and a modern complement to classic handwritten letters.
Going forward, the hotline will continue to evolve based on the collected data, helping improve contact center services for users of all ages. And children, in turn, will keep receiving gifts from Ded Moroz — along with holiday cheer powered by new technologies.
