Russia Develops Unified Operating System for Industrial Robots

Rostec has unveiled a universal platform that allows factories to control industrial robots from multiple manufacturers through a single interface — a breakthrough in automation flexibility and cost efficiency.

Russian state corporation Rostec has introduced a unified robot management system (RMS) designed to control industrial robots from various manufacturers via one centralized platform. The technology removes dependence on vendor-specific software, accelerates the deployment of new equipment, and significantly reduces integration costs.

A Common Language for All Machines

The RMS platform functions as both a universal translator and a command hub for entire fleets of robotic machinery. It seamlessly connects industrial robots, controllers, sensors, and cameras from different manufacturers, ensuring synchronized operation across systems. By incorporating artificial intelligence and computer vision, RMS automates complex workflows, minimizes downtime, and helps manufacturers transition to fully integrated smart factories.

Efficiency and Cost Savings

RMS provides real-time data analytics across all connected devices. Operators can monitor equipment utilization, detect malfunctions instantly, and assess overall production efficiency. This results in measurable savings and improved productivity.

The system also tackles a problem shared by manufacturers worldwide: the difficulty of integrating new robots into existing infrastructures. 

“Integrating new robots typically requires significant time, high costs, and locks enterprises into proprietary software ecosystems,” said Vladlen Shorin, General Director of RT-Techpriemka. “RMS breaks down those barriers, giving companies a unified command center for all their equipment. From Test Stage to Industry Standard

The RMS platform has already been registered as an intellectual property object and is undergoing industrial testing at one of Russia’s production sites. Once fully deployed, it could establish a new standard for manufacturing automation in Russia — and potentially serve as a model for other industrial nations seeking technological independence.
