Russian Researchers Develop Unique Antenna for Offshore Mineral Exploration
The device can operate at depths of up to 6 kilometers and is designed to study the seabed and search for mineral deposits.

Researchers from Southern Federal University and the Akustika design bureau have developed a unique antenna for a parametric low-frequency bottom profiler. In practical terms, the device is designed to survey the seabed and can also be used to locate offshore mineral deposits.
The antenna has a wide operational range, allowing researchers to study the seabed at depths of up to 6 kilometers. Its signal can also penetrate as deep as 200 meters into the seabed itself. According to the developers, no other device in Russia currently offers similar capabilities.
The developers are already working with industrial partners that could become customers for the new antenna systems.
