Artificial Intelligence in Russia Will Guard the Truth in the News
Two newly patented AI-powered tools developed in Russia aim to accelerate fact-checking by automating news analysis and verifying the authenticity of public information

N. I. Lobachevsky Nizhny Novgorod State University has created two software systems designed to speed up the verification of news and other public materials. Both tools have received official registration certificates, allowing the university to begin practical implementation in media-analysis projects.
The first tool, titled “System for Searching and Extracting Context from Discovered News Resources,” automates the gathering of publications on a given topic and compiles contextual information that would otherwise require manual collection. The software analyzes open sources and helps users more quickly understand how a news narrative emerges and evolves.
A Fact-Checking Conveyor Powered by Generative AI
The second product, “Fact-Verification Conveyor Using Generative Artificial Intelligence,” relies on the AutoFactCheck neural network, which compares stated claims with verified data. The tool identifies inconsistencies and accelerates the verification process—crucial when dealing with large volumes of news content.
A Unified Platform for Media Literacy and Research
Both tools are part of a broader platform the university is building to automate fact-checking. The platform is intended for educational initiatives, media analysis, and academic research. The university has been working on information-credibility issues for several years; earlier, it launched #STUDFACTCHECK, a project focused on teaching students media-literacy skills.
The new AI instruments expand this work. They will help analysts and journalists process data more efficiently and reduce reliance on manual verification. The university plans to develop the platform further, expand the toolset, and adapt the systems for professional teams that work with information daily.
