Moscow for Everyone: Russpass Launches Three Free Science Routes

To mark Russian Science Day, the digital platform Russpass is turning city walks into something closer to an interactive classroom. The service has introduced three free themed routes that blend guided tours, mini-courses and urban quests focused on science, nature and geography.

From Lomonosov to “Tropics” in Winter

Russpass now features three new curated routes created specifically for Russian Science Day.

The first, “Mikhailo Lomonosov: Mosaic, Telescope and a Model of the Scientist’s Chemical Laboratory,” guides users through locations connected to Lomonosov’s life and scientific legacy. The route links memorial sites with exhibition spaces that showcase his experiments and discoveries.

The second route, “Winter Is Cancelled, or Where to Find the Tropics in Moscow,” takes visitors through botanical gardens and greenhouses where they encounter tropical ecosystems in the middle of winter. Along the way, participants learn about rare plant collections and the work of botanists maintaining them.

The third route, “In the Footsteps of Explorers: A Journey Into the World of Geography,” focuses on sites associated with major geographic discoveries, expeditions and the lives of Russian explorers.

All three excursions are free, delivered in digital format and designed for both residents and tourists, including families with children and school groups.

Benefits for Users and the City

For city residents, the new routes provide a straightforward way to turn an ordinary walk into an immersive learning experience. Participants discover more about Russian science, history, nature and geography without sitting through a formal lecture. Instead, buildings, parks, exhibitions and landmarks become contextual anchors for scientific storytelling.

Such initiatives support the growth of cultural and educational tourism. Russpass integrates these routes into a broader smart-city ecosystem. Users receive not just a map and a list of attractions, but a structured day plan that explains what to see and why it matters.

Since its launch, Russpass has brought together dozens of useful services – from a convenient travel planner to AI-driven personalized recommendations

Russpass as a Digital Tourism Flagship

In recent years, Russpass has evolved from a Moscow-focused project into a national digital travel platform. Through the service, users can build itineraries, book tickets and accommodations, and search for events and excursions across Russia. The addition of science-themed routes aligns with a broader content strategy. The platform continues to expand its thematic modules, from seasonal collections such as “Moskva. Leto” and “Moskva. Traditsii. Lyudi” to national travel circuits like the “Zolotoye koltso,” or Golden Ring.

For domestic tourism, Russpass has become a core planning tool. Millions of users rely on it to organize trips across the country, while government bodies use the platform to promote priority destinations and curated routes.

The service plans to expand its multilingual interface and personalized recommendation engine. This would position Russpass not only as a domestic digital platform but as an international tourism gateway for foreign visitors to Russia.

Science as a Permanent Urban Theme

The introduction of science routes for Russian Science Day is not a one-time initiative. The platform has embedded recurring thematic collections into its development model, signaling future route scenarios tied to other cultural and historical milestones, from art and industrial heritage to technological achievements.

Russpass is steadily linking educational itineraries with citywide events such as festivals, exhibitions, City Day celebrations and museum anniversaries. In doing so, Moscow is framed as an open-air classroom, while the digital platform becomes the primary navigation and content layer through which residents and visitors engage with the city’s scientific and cultural agenda.
