Nearly All Medical Facilities in Russia Now Have IT Infrastructure
Artificial intelligence is emerging as the main driver of digital transformation in Russia’s healthcare system.

Around 74% of medical institutions in Russia now have dedicated IT infrastructure, according to a 2025 study on the digital maturity of healthcare providers conducted by consulting firm First Bit.
After surveying executives at more than 200 medical organizations, researchers found that in-house IT specialists are most common in multidisciplinary hospitals, at 83%, and specialized medical centers, at 78%. The figure is lower in dental clinics, at 64%, and especially in sanatoriums, at just 33%.
The AI Trend
When it comes to future priorities, 54% of respondents identified artificial intelligence as the leading IT trend in Russian healthcare. Another 28% see the future in telemedicine powered by chatbots and virtual assistants. Wearable devices that enable continuous health monitoring were cited by 21% of respondents.
By 2026, most healthcare organizations are expected to focus on integration with the Unified State Health Information System. Other key IT trends for 2026 include connecting medical equipment to information systems, expanding management and business analytics, automating preventive screenings and disease monitoring, and rolling out more digital services for patients.
