Reshetnev University Plans to Launch Third CubeSat for Low-Speed Orbital Network

The Reshetnev Siberian State University of Science and Technology is preparing to launch its third small satellite, ReshuCube-3, in 2027 as part of an effort to build a low-speed IP network in orbit.

Researchers at the Reshetnev Siberian State University of Science and Technology plan to send the ReshuCube-3 (CubeSat) into Earth orbit. Together with two satellites already in operation, the new spacecraft will form a low-speed IP network designed to function similarly to terrestrial internet systems.

The university noted that the satellite’s orientation system, developed in-house, will work in close coordination with its propulsion unit.

“We are testing our system so it can be deployed on future missions of our own and those of our partners in the 6–8 unit class. The propulsion system will also be suitable for small satellites, enabling them to maintain orbit,” said Dmitry Zuev, deputy head of the Small Spacecraft laboratory.

Russian universities are actively involved in developing and launching CubeSat-class spacecraft. One of the key initiatives is Universat (satellite program), which has been run by Roscosmos in partnership with technical universities since 2016.
