Rosatom Manufactures Innovative Equipment Package for Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant

Engineers at Atommashe, a plant within Rosatom's structure, have successfully manufactured a package of high-tech equipment for the turbine hall of the Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant, which Russian specialists are building in Turkey. They produced moisture separator-reheaters needed to operate the steam turbine unit.

The challenge was that the equipment had to be designed for horizontal installation. Engineers used computer modeling to address the problem. The approach allowed them to modify the design and use two units instead of the traditional four, reducing the amount of metal required to manufacture the equipment while improving its efficiency, reliability and cost-effectiveness.
