Russia Launches First National AI Research Database—with 6,500+ Papers and Counting

Russia is building the intellectual backbone of its AI future—and it starts with data. More specifically, data on data

A new open-access platform is now live, designed to track, organize, and analyze every scientific publication in the country related to artificial intelligence.

Developed by the AI Alliance, ITMO University, and Sberbank, the platform already houses over 6,500 research papers from the past decade. It’s not just a library—it’s a real-time research radar, built to give scientists, students, and institutions a clear view of Russia’s evolving AI landscape.

Content is sourced automatically, but researchers can also submit manually. All entries undergo verification, and the system supports search in both Russian and English.

“This is the first time so many AI research papers have been unified on a single platform,” said Alexander Vedyakhin, First Deputy Chairman of Sberbank. “It brings unprecedented transparency and accessibility to scientific work in AI.”

By the end of 2025, the database will be opened to all users—from undergrads to government analysts. In the near term, developers plan to double the number of indexed publications, making it a definitive resource for anyone mapping Russia’s AI research frontier.

This isn’t just a repository—it’s a strategic infrastructure project that’s helping digitize Russian science and position the country as a serious contender in the global AI race.
